I’m Kathy Brown—stylist, mama, boutique owner, and lifelong believer in chasing dreams.
After more than 30 years behind the chair as a hairstylist, I had to step away. But my story didn’t end there—it took a turn I never expected.
Five years ago, our family packed up everything we knew and loved in Texas and moved to North Carolina when my husband was transferred for work. It was a big leap—but it also opened the door for our son to pursue his lifelong passion of racing. We knew this move would place him right in the heart of racing country.
As he began chasing his passion full throttle, I stepped away from the salon chair to support him. After more than 30 years as a hairstylist, it was the right time.
Now, with our son graduating high school and continuing to pursue his dreams on the track, it’s time for me to follow mine—and that dream is Simply Jolene.

I grew up in a small Texas town, raised by a strong mama who owned her own hair salons—and I followed in her footsteps early. By 19, I was working in a salon, building a life centered around community and creativity. For decades, I poured myself into making others feel seen and beautiful.
But when arthritis made it impossible to keep styling, I faced a hard question:
What now?
The answer came, surprisingly, from my closet. Everywhere I went, people would stop me to ask where I got my outfit. I realized that the same confidence and joy I once gave through hair could now be offered through fashion.
With encouragement from my friends and support from my community, I took the leap—starting small by selling curated pieces in a local boutique. Then another. And another. Before long, I had the opportunity to open my own brick-and-mortar boutique in Denver, North Carolina.
Simply Jolene was born.
